Summary:

Health workforce issues are a global concern. In 2006, WHO estimated a global shortage of 4.3M health workers. Studies of the last decade or so have shown that supply of nurses appears insufficient to meet global needs both now and in the future. This report presents data on the current and possible future global and Australian health and nursing workforces, with particular emphasis on the Australian nursing workforce.
