5-6 November 2008 - AHWI Colloquium: 'Incentives in Health Workforce Reform' at The University of Melbourne
AHWI hosts national and international experts on health workforce policy. An invitation only event, the Colloquium will be held this year at Melbourne Business School Conference Centre. Faciliated by Professor Niki Ellis, the objectives of the colloquium are to debate and to develop health workforce policies related to incentives. Invitation Only.

5 August 2008 - AHWI Workshop on 'Creating a Sustainable Health Workforce in Vietnam'
The Australian Health Workforce held a workshop on Vietnam's Health Workforce issues on 5 August 2008. The workshop facilitated by Ms. Gillian Biscoe included participants from the University of Melbourne, the University of Queensland, Queensland Health, the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, Queensland University of Technology, RMIT University, University of South Australia, private consultancies, and Royal Children's Hosptial International.
The first in a series of ongoing conversations and meetings on Vietnam, the workshop resulted in the establishment of a working group on Vietnam health workforce issues.
10 July 2008 - AHWI UQ Visit
AHWI's University of Melbourne branch hosted a vist and AHWI Meeting on 10 July 2008 with academics and researchers in Health Sciences from the University of Queensland. The day's events included a welcome from Professr James Angus, the Dean of Medicine, Health Sciences and Dentistry, The University of Melbourne, a visual presentation from Assoc Prof. Steve Trumble, Medical Education Unit, and a well-attended meeting with Melbourne's School of Population Health. The day finished with a meeting on AHWI's future research objectives.
19 Feb 2008 - AHWI Official Launch
The Australian Health Workforce Institute was officially launched on 19th February 2008 at the Woodward Conference Centre. The event was attended by the vice-chancellors and medicine and health science deans of the partner institutions, senior public servants, representatives from health organisations and other senior university staff.
