CRC Application
An application is being assembled for a Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Sustainable Health Workforce for Round 13 of the CRC Program, 2010.
The proposed Centre aims to contribute to a sustainable health workforce by undertaking research that:
- Provides New Models of Care;
- Increases Productivity of the Existing and Future Workforce;
- Provides New Approaches to Education, Prevention, and Cost-effectiveness in Health Care
Challenges that the application will address are found in:
- ageing workforce and population;
- uneven workforce distribution;
- compounding health costs; and
- increasing incidence and high cost of chronic disease requiring long-term support with limited consumer involvement.
It is proposed the application be lodged through the University of Melbourne, through a priority Centre, the Australian Health Workforce Institute (AHWI), comprising the University of Melbourne and the University of Queensland.
When successful, this CRC will significantly extend the scope and impact of health workforce research to impact upon this important national and global issue.
